There’s no denying, Scotland is world-famous for its production of Whisky and Gin, and nowhere is a collection of distilleries more concentrated than in the capital city of Edinburgh. So if you’re in town, and want to learn more about the amazing production methods behind the barley to bottling process, look no further than our incredible Edinburgh Whisky & Gin trip!
Tours of all the distilleries within a reachable distance of Edinburgh are on offer to you here, but now comes the difficult bit; choosing just where you want to visit! With so many choices on offer, we’ll make your part a little bit easier by mentioning some of our favourite destinations!
Found just a short shuttle bus journey from the capital, the Glenkinchie Distillery in Pencaitland is always at the top of our list of distilleries to explore! Founded by brothers John and George Rate back in 1825, the Single Malt distillery is renowned for its Glenkinchie 12, which was hailed as the Best Lowland Single Malt at the 2013 World Whiskies Awards; so you definitely know it’s worth a dram or two!
For our guests who really want to get involved in the process, this secret gem in the heart of Edinburgh will be right up your street! Micro-distillery Sip Antics really does give visitors a bang for their buck with their legendary ‘Sip Gin School’ experience, where there’ll be an excellent opportunity to not only taste some of the wide range of gin profiles on offer whilst learning about how they’re made, but also to produce your very own bottle of personalised gin using traditional methods! Which of the 60 botanicals would you include in your gin?
Or for those who’d like to experience the best of both worlds, we’ll take you down to old St Leonards railway station, which is now the home of Holyrood Whisky and Gin Distillery; the only distillery to open in Edinburgh in almost a century! As a product of Canadian’s Rob & Kelly Carpenter and Scot David Robertson’s long love for all things Scottish, and backed by their invaluable experience in spirit production, Holyrood Distillery brings a new and refreshing perspective to the barley to bottle process. For anyone limited on time that’s interested in both distilling processes for whisky and gin, you couldn’t find yourself in a better location than that of Holyrood Distillery!
Naturally, these suggestions are just to give you a very small taste of the endless possibilities available on this bespoke tour. If you do choose to book this Edinburgh Whisky & Gin trip, a member of our team will be in contact with you to discuss your time restraints, taste preferences and any specific distilleries you’d like to experience before we design your very own custom tour itinerary!

Please refer to our T&Cs with regards to cancellation and refund policies.
Our tours are always privately tailored to you. And the pricing is staggered with the amount of people attending. Please add the required number of people to see the price of your chosen tour. Also check out our advertised Tours of the Months for special discounts.
Normally since we have been in touch with you prior to the tour we should recognise you and you would not need to bring a receipt of booking. If we do however need for you to show a receipt (in case it’s one of our tour guides doing your tour) we let you know specifically beforehand to print or make sure you’d be able to show your confirmation digitally.
Anything that is listed as “included” is included in the price. But if you would like to visit any additional attractions for example you would have to pay those separately on entrance. Same applies to meals which are not mentioned in the “included” section.
Our luxury Mercedes Van comfortably sits 7 people. But if you are intending to bring luggage or if you’re intending to do a multi-day tour we suggest to reduce the group size to 4-5 people.
We can however always accommodate bigger groups as Sean has the licence to drive bigger vehicles – or we can ask our colleague to tandem up with us and we separate the group into two of the same vans. His van can sit 6 people.
For a day tour – just make sure you bring adequate clothing and shoe wear to accommodate for weather changes and outdoor conditions if necessary. If you want to have your personal lunch picnic – please bring that as well.
We provide bottled water and we have one child seat if needed.
For an extended tour – we’ll provide you with a longer list of confirmation documents you may need and a more extensive packing list.
British weather is always changing – so the rule is to dress with the “onion principle” – have as many layers as possible to quickly adjust to temperature changes and have appropriate clothing ready for wet & dry weather. If you like to go for a wander, we always recommend to wear comfortable walking shoes that keep you safe on any surface, from cobblestones to muddy paths.
