5 Must See Locations in Scotland

Unforgettable Destinations to Add to Your Scottish Adventure

Scotland is filled to the brim with incredible attractions and sights, so it was hard to choose just 5!

In reality, the best way to include all of the must-see attractions during a visit to Scotland is to narrow down between things you only want to see/visit because they’re famous, and things you truly take an interest in.

Hopefully this guide can help you narrow down between the two, allowing you to make the most of your time in Scotland.

From stunning natural landscapes to perfectly preserved historical landmarks, we’ve rounded up 5 of our favourite Scottish locations to visit:

1: John O’Groats – with amazing wildlife and gorgeous scenery in abundance, John O’Groats and the surrounding coast is not to be missed. Explore the famous village, walk the coast, discover the bays and beaches, or use it as a starting point for further adventures!

2: St. Andrews – there’s no shortage of things to do in St Andrews, even if you’re not a golf fanatic. Some of our favourite attractions include the cathedral and castle, plus the aquarium which is home to some gorgeous seals and penguins. On the golfing side, St. Andrews is home to the ‘Old Course’ which is known as the Home of Golf.

3: Loch Maree – bordered on one side by the oakwoods of Letterewe Estate and the mountain mass of Slioch, and on the other side by pinewoods of Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve, Loch Maree is commonly regarded as one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland. It also happens to be the largest Loch north of the famous Loch Ness.

4: Glencoe – located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Glencoe is known for its incredible waterfalls and trails that climb peaks such as Buachaille Etive Mor and Bidean nam Bian. As you can imagine, there’s plenty of wildlife around such as red deer and golden eagles.

5: Dunkeld and Birnam – this quaint community consists of two villages on either side of the River Tay and is known as one of the best-preserved historic towns in the region of Perthshire. The area has always been a place of importance as it lies close to the Highland Boundary Fault – the geological boundary between the Highlands and the Lowlands. The breath-taking surroundings and lively arts scene make it the perfect holiday destination, for all tastes and budgets.
